The Parliament has not Enough Voices so far to put the Pension Reform on Agenda, - Volodymyr Lytvyn
On Wednesday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, was asked about the expectable scrutiny of the bill on pension reform during the next plenary week. He responded that the parliament has not enough voices so far to put this issue on agenda. "This matter will arise next week, no later than on Tuesday," he stated, staying with a working visit in Switzerland. "However, the situation is tense, as there are not 226 votes to put this issue on agenda." V.Lytvyn stressed that even large pro-governmental factions do not have the required number of votes.
The Head of the Ukrainian Parliament deems necessary to discuss this bill with the Government before putting it on agenda. "The government should explain the outcome of this issue," V.Lytvyn stressed. He objects to ‘lobbying any resolution, merely changing the registration numbers of the draft.´
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is convinced that such a reform should be implemented on the principles of voluntariness and motivation, so that people understood that the later they retire, the bigger pension they get.
